File Drop Off
![]()
Need to send me a file that’s too big for email? This is the place to do it.
The File Drop Off page lets students upload documents, drafts, datasets, presentations and other coursework files directly to me, Nicki James Shepherd, without wrestling with attachment size limits or compressed folders that refuse to open. It’s also handy as a simple backup: if you’ve emailed me something important, dropping a copy here means there’s a second version safely on file.
How Drop Off works
- Choose your file (or several).
- Add your name and a short note so I know what I’m looking at and who it’s from.
- Hit upload. That’s it. Your file comes straight to me and you’ll see a confirmation when it’s done.
What Drop Off can send
Large documents, dissertations and thesis drafts, audio and video recordings, datasets, slide decks, portfolios and scanned paperwork. If it’s relevant to your studies or our work together, it belongs here.
If you are sharing multiple files, please compress them to a singular .ZIP file before upload.
A note on privacy
Files uploaded here come directly to me and are not shared with anyone else. If your file contains sensitive personal information, mention it in the title field and I’ll handle it accordingly.
Having trouble uploading, or not sure this is the right route for your file? and I’ll point you in the right direction.
If your course or module is not listed please use ‘Other” in the Course section.
Frequently Asked Questions:
What file types can I upload?
Pretty much anything: Word documents, PDFs, spreadsheets, slide decks, images, audio, video and zipped folders. If the tool rejects a file type for security reasons, zip it first and try again.
Can I send more than one file at once?
Yes. You can upload a whole zipped folder as a .zip or do a few uploads back to back. If you’re sending a batch that belongs together, a zipped folder keeps things tidy.
How do I know my upload worked?
You’ll see a confirmation message on screen once the upload finishes. If you don’t see it, the file didn’t arrive, so check your connection and try again. If you’re still unsure, drop me a quick message and I’ll confirm receipt.
Who can see my files?
Only me. Files come directly to Nicki James Shepherd and are not shared with anyone else, published anywhere, or added to any third-party service. If a file contains sensitive personal information, say so in the note field and I’ll treat it accordingly.
Does uploading here count as officially submitting my work?
No, and this one matters. The drop off is for sharing files with me and for backup copies. It is intended to be used as a way for you to share files with me, and for me to be able to keep the student files that I receive in organised manner. It should be noted that any formal coursework submission still needs to go through your university’s official submission system firdt by the stated deadline. Don’t rely on this page alone for anything that gets graded, but uploading a copy to the drop off as a backup is helpful and reccomended.
My upload keeps failing. What should I do?
Large files on slow or patchy Wi-Fi are the usual culprit. Try a wired connection or a stronger signal, close other tabs doing heavy work, and avoid letting your device sleep mid-upload. If it still fails, zip the file to shrink it, or contact me and we’ll find another way.
How long do you keep my files?
Files are kept for as long as they’re relevant to our work together and then deleted. If you’d like something removed sooner, just ask.
